Adult ADHD
supporting you on your treatment journey
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition affecting focus, impulsivity, and activity levels. At Southside Psychiatry, we provide comprehensive assessments and personalized treatment plans, including medication management, to help individuals effectively manage their symptoms and thrive
Let us help you
At Southside Psychiatry, we offer comprehensive ADHD assessments for individuals seeking a diagnosis. We are also able to support patients who may have already been assessed and are seeking treatment. Our process involves a thorough evaluation of the patient's medical, psychiatric, social, and educational history, as well as the use of standardized questionnaires and rating scales to ensure an accurate and informed diagnosis. Once diagnosed, we provide personalized treatment plans, which may include ADHD stimulant medications prescribed either under a shared care agreement with NHS primary care providers or via private prescription. By collaborating closely with GPs through shared care arrangements, we ensure effective communication, monitoring, and safety, supporting our patients in managing their ADHD effectively and compassionately.

A shared care agreement facilitates collaboration between Southside Psychiatry and NHS primary care providers, ensuring safe and seamless prescribing and monitoring of psychiatric medications. It clearly defines roles, responsibilities, and communication to maintain consistent and effective patient care.
How We Support Patients with ADHD
Reach out to us via email, phone, or our website to inquire about our ADHD assessment and treatment services. Our team will get in touch with information about what to expect, the scope of our services, and the next steps.
Patient Information Gathering
Before the assessment, we will ask you to complete a patient details form and provide any relevant medical history or records. We will require all patients to provide a summary of their GP records prior to commencing treatment with stimulant medication. This helps us understand your background and ensure you receive the right treatment for your needs.
Comprehensive ADHD Assessment
During the assessment, one of our experienced clinicians will evaluate your medical, psychiatric, social, and educational history. We may use standardized ADHD questionnaires or rating scales to support the diagnosis. This assessment is typically conducted through a face-to-face or video consultation.
Diagnosis and Discussion
Once the assessment is complete, your clinician will discuss the findings with you. If an ADHD diagnosis is confirmed, we will explain what this means for you and outline the available treatment options.
Personalized Treatment Plan
Together, we will develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. This may include ADHD stimulant medications or other appropriate therapies. We’ll provide detailed information about the prescribed medication, its benefits, potential side effects, and how it fits into your overall care.
Shared Care Agreement (if applicable)
If you choose to pursue medication under a shared care agreement, we’ll work closely with your NHS GP. This ensures that your primary care provider is informed and involved in your treatment, supporting continuity of care.
Private Prescription (if applicable)
If shared care isn’t an option, we can issue a private prescription for your ADHD medication. We’ll coordinate regular reviews and monitoring to ensure your treatment remains effective and safe.
Ongoing Monitoring and Support
Throughout your treatment, we’ll schedule regular follow-up appointments to track your progress, assess how well the medication is working, and adjust the treatment plan if needed. Physical health monitoring, such as checking weight, heart rate, and blood pressure, will also be conducted as required.
Access to Resources and Guidance
Along the way, we’ll provide education about ADHD, practical tools for managing symptoms, and guidance on accessing additional support services, such as talking therapies if needed.
Continuous Communication
Whether through follow-ups or answering your questions, we maintain open communication to ensure you feel supported at every stage of your ADHD journey.
We are here to help you manage your ADHD effectively and achieve a better quality of life through compassionate, personalized care. Let us know how we can support you further!
